ADD-ON: "Additional Aircraft Types"
almost 4 years ago – Sun, May 31, 2020 at 12:36:46 PM

At the beginning of the campaign, we have announced an update for offering a set of new aircraft types, to see if there is interest. We have already had questions and comments on the subject and several increased pledges for it. That is why we are setting this update earlier than we originally planned.

We remind you that there is an add-on "Turkish planes" with 6 types (12 airplane pieces) for $10, which will be given for free to all bakers up to number #259 (pledge number). There are 27 types of airplanes in the Expansion (54 pieces) + 20 airships / balloons.

Aircraft from stretch goals

With the stretch goals scored so far (3 types of 2 pieces), the basic game contains 21 types of planes (a total of 60 pieces). If the current stretch goal (altitude stands for 6th level) is fulfilled, we have predicted that the next three stretch goals will be planes that could be classified as light reconnaissance-bombers. These are: French Voisin V, German AGO C.I and British Airco DH.1. Similar planes are already represented in the expansion: Bulgarian (German) Otto C.I and Serbian (French) Farman F.40. These types are very slow and have limited capabilities, but we find them interesting in the game because they need a strong fighter escort.

It may seem too ambitious, but we have predicted more stretch goals. (In our Tank Chess campaign, as many as 14 stretch goals were unlocked https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1732812836/tank-chess/posts/2083886). After the light reconnaissance bombers, the next three planes would be floatplane fighters: French Hanriot HD.2, German Rumpler 6B and British Sopwith Baby.

They could be followed by fighter flying boats (we have yet to choose which types, and you can help us with that). Such kind of planes are already in expansion (Hansa Branderburg CC, Macchi M.5, Grigorovich M.9 and M.11). There is already a proposal for the game board to be printed on both sides. This increases production costs, but if all previous stretch goals were reached the series would be large enough to make such an imporvement (it would look much nicer if floatplane and flying boat fighters fly above the sea surface).

Aircraft in the add-on

So, there are already many types of planes in the option, but besides, there are still many significant planes that have been left out. The proposal is for the new add-on "Additional Aircraft Types" to be in a 24x15x3 cm box that would contain 30 types of aircraft (60 pieces and 30 control panels), 15 from Central Powers and another 15 from Entente. There may be fighters, scouts, bombers, various prototypes and experimental aircraft among them. The aircraft that should certainly be included are French Morane-Saulnier L (famous French aviator Roland Garros experimented with the installation of a synchronized machine gun on this type in late 1914), British Sopwith Pup and Sopwith Triplane. Germans had many bombers and interesting fighters such as Fokker D.VIII, Pfalz D.XII, Siemens-Schuckert D.IV, etc.

We expect backers to state in the comments whether they are interested in this kind of add-on and to suggest which types they would like to see in it. Before the end of the campaign we will adopt a list of airplanes which will be the final add-on content. The price of this set will be $ 24. This can be selected later in the pledge manager (BackerKit) and you can increase the pledge already during the campaign on Kickstarter in order to contribute achieving as many stretch goals as possible. If you share and inform your friends about this project, you can additionaly contribute to unlocking a large number of stretch goals.

Stretch goal #5 is unlocked
almost 4 years ago – Mon, May 25, 2020 at 09:33:50 AM

6th altitude level is unlocked. The set will contain 5 more altitude stands (5 less L5 and 10 more new L6).

The next stretch goal is the first of three "light reconnaissance-bombers":

#6 - $ 25 000 - new aircraft: Voisin V

-

We remind you to look at the previous update, which is about a new add-on "Additional Aircraft Types".

Stretch goal #4
almost 4 years ago – Fri, May 22, 2020 at 01:57:34 PM

The last of the "general purpose" aircraft stretch goal is reached:

Airco DH.9A

_

The next stretch goal is:

#5 - $ 20 000 - 6th altitude level (5 more altitude stands)

Another height for aircraft flight. Only some airplanes will be able to fly at the 6th level, while some of other aircraft will only be able to reach level 4. These will be new kind of specific aircraft characteristics. This new feature will be described in the rulebook.

If this stretch goal is reached, the set will include 10 level 6 stands, while there will be 5 less level 5 stands (because not all aircraft will be able to fly that high), which means 5 more stands in total.

Beside this, we have already decided to introduce some special flying maneuvers in the game. You can read more information in the previous update.
